    Description

For sale is a very cool 1920 Pilgrim Tercentenary Commemorative Silver Half Dollar. This coin was minted and sold in 1920 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock in 1620. The obverse of the coin features Massachusetts Pilgrim Governor William Bradford on the obverse, and the reverse features the famous Mayflower. A total of 152,112 coins were minted, but they were very poor sellers at the time so 128,000 of them were returned to the Mint and melted. That leaves about only 24,000 that survived, making it very rare. The coin is 90% silver.
As you can see from the pics the coin is in great shape, and it would come in at early AU (almost uncirculated) grade. All lettering, date, and images are all clear and detailed--lots of the original mint luster and shine is still present, and the coin has a cool golden hue patina to it. That's saying a lot for this coin because unlike commemorative coins of today, these coins back then were still circulated as currency, so whenever you find one in great shape like this it is something special. The coin has no toning, no damage, and it has not been cleaned.
This is an amazing coin that no half dollar or commemorative coin collection should be without. Thanks!
