Chinese Export Hand Painted Grisaille Maritime Harbor Scene Coffee Cup & Saucer
Nice 18th century Chinese export hand painted Grisaille porcelain coffee cup and saucer. The cup is decorated with a maritime harbor scene with boats, water, trees, and a building opposite the handle. Has a matching scene in the center of the cup. Both the cup and saucer have an elaborate black and gold border with rose swags, scrollwork, lattice/net designs, and stars. Probably circa 1770.
Has wear consistent with age and use. The cup is in otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks; however, the saucer has a tight approximately 2 5/8 inch long crack through the center that goes through the bottom portion of the scene.
The cup measures approximately 3 5/8 inches wide including the handle x 2 3/4 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 5 1/2 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
