    Description

Available is an original World War I United States Army steel helmet.
The helmet comes complete with its bales and wool/oilcloth liner. The original chinstrap is present. The center of the chinstrap, near where it is attached to the steel pot, is marked with the size "7 1/8". The helmet itself is stamped under the rim with the number "40246". I don’t see any other markings on the helmet and I don’t believe it is named.
The helmet is in solid overall condition given its age, but does show some wear from honest use in the field. There are a couple of small dents to the top of the shell. The chinstrap is brittle and has broken in one place. There is also some light soiling and oxidation underneath the liner. Please be sure to check out the large photos I have posted and judge condition for yourself.
