    story of one of the most popular Soviet awards - Order of the Red Star.
    For the first time in the Russian historiography, the book depicts in scrupulous detail the history of the Order institution, designing and manufacturing, of its evolution and every known variation. An impressive amount of data regarding the awarding practices is provided, with exciting and less known details concerning the most prominent personalities awarded, the nuances of manufacturing process, etc.

    Эта книга целиком посвящена подробной истории одного из советских орденов - ордена Красной Звезды и является уже третьей публикацией большой серии "Энциклопедия советских наград" (первая книга - "Орден Ленина" вышла в 2005 г., вторая - "Орден Красного Знамени" - в 2006 г.).
    Впервые в отечественной историографии столь подробно рассказывается об учреждении награды, о разработке рисунка ордена и его эволюции, о производственных вопросах, связанных с их изготовлением. С достаточной полнотой говорится о награждениях, награжденных и наградных документах. Отдельный раздел посвящен классификации орденов Красной Звезды различных периодов, где учтены практически все, даже самые мелкие, различия.
    В Приложении даются таблицы со статистическими данными по изготовлению, награждениям и вручению орденов, статут ордена, технические условия и другие материалы, имеющие прямое отношение к ордену Красной Звезды.
