This is a very pretty pocket rosary with a 7/8" nickel silver oval medal of St Angela Merici and a 1-5/8" gold-plated crucifix. Both medal and crucifix were made in Italy; the chaplet itself was designed and handmade by me in our home in the USA.
All eleven beads are 8 mm. The Our Father is a round silver filigree bead.  The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech glass, faceted and fire-polished in alternating aurora borealis crystal and a metallic pink color called "Bubblegum".

St Angela Merici was a 15th - 16th century Italian religious educator who founded the Ursulines with the main purpose of educating young girls in the Catholic faith.  As a young woman she discovered many girls were ignorant and had no hope. She opened her home to them and taught them the Catholic faith herself.  Eventually she founded the Ursuline order which was the first order of women religious which did not live in a cloister.  It was the first teaching order of women in the Catholic Church, and they founded many schools and orphanages.
Their goal was to elevate family life through a good Christian education of women - future wives and mothers. She said "Disorder in society is the result of disorder in the family."  Sounds like good advice for society's problems of today!  St Angela Merici had a devoted prayer life and many mystical experiences which included visions of Our Lord.
The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion.
