    Description

    WW1 US Navy "Donald Duck" Hat
    Original WW1 US Navy enlisted winter service hat [AKA "Donald Duck" hat], dark blue wool cover with medium blue cotton cloth lining and black silk hat band with gold woven silk ship designation U.S.S. N.7 on front. Typical small size, about size 7. No names or other markings inside. Wool cover is heavily moth damaged as can be seen in photos. Lettering is tarnished from age but no holes, fraying or other damage to hat band. USS N-7 was a N-class coastal defense submarine that operated off the US East Coast from its commissioning in June 1918 until decommissioned [and subsequently scrapped] in June 1922. Despite the moth damage, still a nice piece for any collection of US submarine or WW1 US Navy items and is in fair condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
